Acceptable Ways to Specify a State

A state name may be entered in several equally acceptable forms. The standard 2 letter postal abbreviation is usually the most convenient, however the full name may also be used. In addition to these, most common misspellings and typing errors will be detected and corrected, thus adding thousands of other possible ways to specify a state name, although this may add a few seconds to the search time. Even if the state name is left out completely, the locator will usually be able to find the correct place, though it is best to provide the state when possible.
